Umatilla Electric Cooperative (UEC) is seeking a talented IT professional to join a small team supporting business critical services in multiple regulated and non-regulated environments deployed on-premises and in the cloud. In this role, you will collaborate across the organization to ensure the security and reliability of the full stack of IT infrastructure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may includeother duties as assigned.
•Analyze and solve problems with technical systems of moderate to high complexity.
•Collaborate and provide insight on design and engineering of IT systems.
•Administer, troubleshoot, and monitor all layers of on-premises IT systems including shared storage, server virtualization, and network infrastructure (Campus / Multi-Site Small-Scale DC).
•Provides technical leadership and oversight for Microsoft Cloud by defining standards and best practices.
•Manage and support M365 services such as Entra ID (AD), Exchange, Teams, etc.
•Construct automations around system administration and reporting using scripting tools (python, PowerShell, etc.), REST APIs, and databases.
•Document all implementations, standards, and changes and provide knowledge transfer to other IT team members.
•Suggest and create standards, practices, and procedures for continual improvement in delivering IT services.
•Maintain an in-depth understanding of the UEC technology environment and integration with other systems. Initiates, plans, and implements upgrades.
•Manage, monitor, and verify system backups. Work with other departments to ensure the backup frequency is adequate.
•Engage with and validate third-party vendors for database/application support, patch management, incident resolution, or changes. Maintains an in-depth understanding of the environments, thoroughly discusses all issues/requests with the MSP, and validates MSP suggested resolutions.
•Function as an escalation point for Tier I/II Support Desk Specialists.
•Initiate and engage in active discussions with the business units to analyze business needs and thoroughly outline technology improvements within the context of current and future business needs.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
Required Skills:
•Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers, Windows Desktop Administration, related services such as WSUS, and end user workstation security stacks.
•Knowledge and experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID / Hybrid AD, Intune, Exchange, and Email Security stacks.
•Knowledge and experience with VMWare, vSAN, shared storage, and related backup technology such as Veeam, etc.
•Fundamental knowledge and experience of network infrastructure including Ethernet and IP switching / routing and Firewalls. Ability to operate and troubleshoot traditional campus LAN designs and Meraki Wi-Fi networks.
•Fundamental knowledge and experience using Linux to provide infrastructure services such as log collection, IT infrastructure monitoring, network tooling, and web proxies.
Preferred Skills/Desired Certifications:
•Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
•Cisco Certified: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
•Junos, Associate (JNCIA-Junos)
•VMware DCV Track (VCTA-DCV, VCP-DCV)
•Palo Alto Firewall Experience / Certification
•Experience with SQL Server or Oracle.
•NERC CIP Regulations and Environments
