To design, install, operate and maintain computer networking systems across the cooperative; assist in monitoring, documentation, and optimization of all network, hardware, cabling, software, and data communications connections; analyze and resolve network, hardware and software problems; serve as subject matter expert for special projects; install and maintain routers, switches, and network access hardware and software; and assisting with all other Cooperative information systems.
Competencies evaluated in this position include, but will not be limited to, proficiency in the following: Router, switch, and network access configuration, troubleshooting and implementation. Layer 2 and routing protocols configuration, troubleshooting, and implementation.

A. Under general direction, be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of all routers, switches and network access hardware, and applicable software.
B. Assist in the design and implementation of redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
C. Assist in network capacity planning and network performance.
D. Install and upgrade network components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
E. Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions.
F. Manage, support and assist in engineering complex networks, including network design, site survey, installation, integration, testing and final acceptance in a wired or wireless environment, network vulnerability assessments, configuration and monitoring of intrusion prevention systems, including firewalls.
G. Provide documentation and technical specifications for planning and implementing new or existing IT infrastructure.
H. Assist with security audits, backups, and other network maintenance as needed.
I. Assist with hardware and software installs, upgrades and support as needed to maintain working systems at BRMEMC.
J. Provide input, when requested, on network equipment, vendors, and technologies, and stay abreast of knowledge and advances in networking technologies enabling the most efficient use of cooperative resources.
K. Maintain, secure and protect confidential Cooperative information.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience. Equivalent combinations of degree and experience will be considered.
A. Must have working technical experience with network systems.
B. Must have working knowledge of network and routing protocols.
C. Must have working knowledge of switch and router configuration.
D. Prefer candidates with working technical experience in designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting Microsoft SQL servers, Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Server and desktop OS.
E. Prefer candidates with experience in OS virtualization, SAN and related technology.
F. Prefer candidates with experience in data backups and disaster recovery.
A. Must possess the ability to conduct research into network related problems as required.
B. Must possess the ability to install hardware and software on network equipment, servers and computers.
C. Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on network hardware, servers, computers, and peripheral equipment.
D. Direct skills and abilities with advanced network and routing protocols such as VLAN translation, BGP, MPLS, OSPF and DWDM will be critical to success in this role.
E. Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
