The Opportunity:
As the first line of support, Maintenance Technicians are an integral member of Canadian Natural’s Maintenance team. You will directly support site maintenance goals and objectives in our Utilities Department at Albian. In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance, as well as shutdowns, unplanned outages, trouble shooting, planning, and coordination to ensure successful plant operation.
Your strong knowledge and experience in mechanical systems and field operations will be demonstrated through your support of planning and coordinating maintenance related duties, overseeing and delegating all tasks for Mechanical team members and contractors, and defining and presenting innovative solutions for equipment integrity, availability and materials.
•Job location: Albian Oil Sands Utilities - Fort McMurray, Alberta
•Shift schedule : 7 days on, 7 days off 12-hour shifts starting on Tuesdays with the possibility of night shift work

Key Accountabilities:
•Ensure daily activities are performed in a safe manner as per codes, regulations, standards and best practices by attending daily planning meetings and reviewing JHA’s & FLHA’s with technicians
•Participate in creating, developing, reviewing and updating procedures and preventative maintenance plans
•Utilize your mechanical experience to focus on the maintenance requirements for designated plant equipment including but not limited to pumps, piping systems, boiler FD fans, exchangers and valves
•Interface with Maintenance Shift Team Leads, Lead Hands, planning groups, Operations, Engineering Support, contractors, Materials Management and vendors to ensure timely co-ordination of maintenance activities and parts availability
•Ensure all required documents, drawings and parts information are attached to the work orders and red line documents from the field are entered into document control and engineering
•Submit reports to Shift Team Leads and Lead Hands and carry-over scopes of work to your cross shift
•Ensure all permits and authorizations are completed prior to releasing equipment to operations and flights for visitors upon request
What You Bring to the Role:
•Typically, 5-10+ years of demonstrated industry experience working with mechanical systems in a heavy oil and/or oil sands environment
•Millwright or Pipefitter Journeyperson Certificate in Alberta and/or an Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate
•Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
•Basic understanding of computer based plant Maintenance Programs and Microsoft Office suite (Word/Outlook/etc.)
