Laborer/Equipment Operator

Shamokin Carbons is currently seeking General Laborers for production/manufacturing and warehousing positions for their Mountain Top, PA facility.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Position may perform packaging/bagging functions, truck loading/unloading, paperwork/data entry – Equipment is manual control, and all require manual labor for loading and unloading

• The employee is required to set-up, clean, and troubleshoot his/her working area.

• Employee is responsible for some mechanical work as far as clean out, troubleshooting and continuous improvement and must learn all procedures.

• Some forklift operation will be required – Forklift training available• Employees are required to report to work in accordance with their work schedules and to complete their scheduled shifts as assigned.

• Employees are expected to be familiar with the policies/procedures set forth in the Employee Handbook.

• Employees are expected to understand and comply with Plant Safety Rules

• Employees are expected to complete all assigned tasks in accordance with Standard Work Instructions.

• Inspect parts for defects and proper labeling

• Assist in training new employees.

• Accurately complete all required paperwork.

• Inspect finished products to ensure that they meet the quality and packaging standards.

• Communicate product quality concerns to the first available Supervisor or Manager within a timely manner.

• Maintain cleanliness of the work areas by sweeping, dusting and removing trash from the area. Assist in maintaining cleanliness of shared areas, such as bathrooms and break rooms.

• Remain at assigned work station for breaks until the Team Member scheduled to relieve you arrives.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED

• 1 year relevant manufacturing/production preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to lift up to 70lbs repeatedly

• Organizational Skills and cleanliness

• Ability to read, write legibly and follow detailed directions
