About This Job

SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Environmental Advisor provides professional environmental services to the company. This includes conducting site reclamation and remediation activities, pipeline project reviews, obtains environmental approvals, and provides technical expertise. The Environmental Advisor leads a variety of environmental programs to ensure the Corporation's environmental goals are met, risks are mitigated, and that the Corporation adopts and uses acceptable industry practices while meeting regulatory compliance requirements. Position Details* Non-union - This position is permanent full time.

Key Accountabilities* Assist on the Corporation’s reclamation and remediation programs to mitigate risks and assess liability.

Identify environmental and heritage sensitivities, recommend mitigation measures and negotiate alternatives to ensure compliance, and provide Qualified Persons’ sign-off.
Liaise with provincial and federal regulatory authorities on a regular basis to obtain environmental permits and approvals.
Collaborate with other internal departments through project planning and guide the public and stakeholder consultation processes.
Conduct field audits at facility and construction sites to assess compliance with federal and provincial environmental legislation, corporate standards, and conditions provided in regulatory approvals.
Provide specialized training, support, guidance and recommendations to other departments and external contractors to ensure procedures, practices and operational activities adhere to corporate environmental standards.
Participate in maintaining and updating environmental standards and procedures for the Corporation.
Conduct assessments and provide technical expertise and recommendations on environmental risk and liability related to property acquisition and divestiture.
Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities* Bachelor of Science (Natural Sciences) or Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering) degree.

Professional designation (e.g., Agrologist, Geoscientist, Biologist, Engineer) registered in Saskatchewan.
Five (5) years of relevant experience.
Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
Knowledge of environmental regulations and industry best practices.
Results oriented and strategic thinker with the ability to manage complex problems.
Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning

A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered. Additional Information* Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.

A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
