Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Attorney to join our reputable Downstream Oil & Gas company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal services related to the oil and gas industry, with expertise in drafting contracts, negotiating leases, and managing land acquisitions. The Attorney will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents related to lease negotiation, land use planning, and drafting contracts for oil and gas operations.
- Review, analyze, and interpret contracts, agreements, and legal documents to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, project coordination, and senior management, to provide legal advice and guidance on complex projects.
- Assist in the due diligence process for land acquisitions, including conducting research and reviewing title reports.
- Stay updated with changes in laws and regulations related to the downstream oil and gas industry and communicate relevant changes to stakeholders.
- Work closely with external legal counsel to support litigation matters and resolve legal disputes effectively and efficiently.
- Provide legal support for various business activities, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic initiatives.
- Support the management team in developing policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on the downstream oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations governing the oil and gas industry in California.
- Proficiency in legal research, contract drafting, and negotiation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience in project coordination and managing cross-functional teams is preferred.
- Knowledge of machine learning and research methodologies related to the oil and gas industry is a plus.
Salary Information:

- Salary Amount: $140,000 per year
