Benchmark Utility Services is seeking an HR Assistant. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Assistant to support our Human Resources department in ensuring efficient operations and employee satisfaction. This role will be instrumental in facilitating onboarding and offboarding processes, maintaining accurate employee records, and addressing HR-related inquiries. The HR Assistant will collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with HR policies and assist in payroll administration.
· Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including preparation of new hire paperwork and exit documentation.
· Conduct E-Verify checks and set up new employees with necessary equipment such as key fobs, gas cards, laptops, phones, and iPads if needed.
· Maintain and update employee records, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.
· Manage HR data entry, including entering new hires into Spectrum and updating contact lists.
· Partner with the Safety team to conduct orientation and arrange for drug testing.
· Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies in a timely and professional manner.
· Verify and ensure compliance with payroll policies and procedures, supporting payroll processing by ensuring accuracy in HRIS data.
· Assist in the preparation and distribution of HR-related reports and audits.
· Maintain organizational charts and internal HR documentation.
· Coordinate logistics for new hire orientations and training sessions.
· Prepare and distribute HR-related communications and memos.
· Manage HR office supplies and vendor coordination.
· Assist in data analytics and HR reporting.
· Stay current on HR best practices to improve workplace efficiency.
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
· Proven experience in payroll processing and HR support.
· Familiarity with HR software (e.g., Workday, ADP, BambooHR, etc.) or a willingness to learn.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
· Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (both written and spoken) is required.
· High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in payroll or HR is a plus
· HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) or in-progress.
· Knowledge of labor laws and compliance regulations.
