The Environmental Coordinator will be responsible for managing Veren’s Alberta release response program and maintaining compliance with Provincial and Federal regulations. This person will provide environmental support across multiple functional teams including Operations, Drilling & Completions, Construction, Facilities and Health & Safety. The candidate should reside in the Grande Prairie or Whitecourt area due to the location of the role and frequent travel is required.

Main Responsibilities & Activities:* Provide release response support to Veren’s teams throughout Alberta. Coordinate and manage environmental consultants/contractors during response activities. Responsible for daily activity reports, cost tracking, invoicing, and internal/external communication, etc.)
Work closely with stakeholders and maintain regulatory compliance (i.e. 7-day reports, SSLA, ROSC, RAP, etc.)
Oversee historical/ongoing release program. Includes: consultant selection, AFE management, scope of work and technical report review
Provide release response education and training to Veren’s teams. Participate in and support the development of emergency response plans and drills
Requires regular field visits to complete site inspections throughout Veren’s areas of operations. Purpose of inspections will be to reinforce environmental compliance, identify/implement preventative measures and communicate deficiencies in a timely manner
Represent Veren’s Environmental team both internally and on industry working groups (i.e., WCSS, GPREP)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:* Relevant post-secondary education is required

Minimum of 5 years of Environmental Consulting experience (with at least 2 years of release response experience) in the oil and gas industry is required, operations experience would be considered an asset
Must possess a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements of oil and gas operations with a working knowledge of AER regulations
Proficient with Provincial regulatory reporting systems (i.e., OneStop)
Experience with programs such as Siteview, Abadata, and Data Atlas considered an asset
Team player who enjoys learning, and contributing to team goals
Enjoy working outdoors
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; adaptable and respectful of others
