Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

As a Senior Supplier Management Specialist with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of Supply Chain Management (SCM) professionals.

The Senior Supplier Management Specialist is a vital individual contributor role responsible for driving excellence in supplier quality, contractor performance and supplier relationship management across the Trans Mountain Pipeline system. This role focuses on implementing best practices, fostering collaboration, and ensuring consistent application of supplier management processes. While not directly managing a team, the Senior Supplier Management Specialist will champion supplier management across the Company and work closely with various internal stakeholders, including SCM, Engineering, Operations, HSE, Quality Management, and Legal, to influence and improve supplier performance. The Supplier Management Specialist will provide support and oversight of the performance of suppliers and third-party inspections firms (TPIs) in the implementation of the Company’s supplier quality program.


Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the Approved Manufacturers List (AML) and Approved Vendors List (AVL).
Coordinate technical reviews of manufacturers and activities of external consultants, including Third Party Inspectors.
Coordinate master data for Vendors, Contractors, and/or Suppliers, such as vendor manuals.
Research and benchmark industry best practices in supplier management to identify opportunities for improvement.
Document and share lessons learned and best practices related to supplier management.
Contribute to the development and implementation of supply chain strategies that support the overall business objectives.
Identify and mitigate supplier-related risks, escalating issues as needed.
Support the negotiation and execution of contracts with key suppliers, focusing on performance-related clauses.
Support the implementation of supplier diversity and sustainability initiatives.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to address supplier-related challenges and drive continuous improvement.
Promote effective communication and collaboration between internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Contribute to the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier performance.
Conduct supplier performance analysis and identify opportunities for improvement.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of supplier scorecards and performance dashboards.
Support the development and implementation of supplier management frameworks, processes, and tools.
Support the development and execution of supplier audits and assessments.
Develop and deliver training programs and resources to enhance internal stakeholders’ understanding and application of supplier management principles.
Act as SCM Subject Matter Expert for Materials Quality Assurance processes.
Act as a subject matter expert and advocate for best practices in supplier management across the organization.


Qualifications And Professional Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a major in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in supplier management, procurement, or a related field, preferably within the energy or pipeline industry.
Strong understanding of supplier management principles, processes, and best practices.
Experience with supplier quality control programs is an asset.
Manufacturing and/or fabrication experience is an asset.
Experience with contract negotiation, performance management, and risk mitigation.
Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., ERP systems, supplier management platforms).
Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards.
Experience with international suppliers is an asset.

Driver’s License is required.
Travel up to 15%.
